If menopause feels like it hit you out of nowhere—mentally, emotionally, physically—you’re not imagining it. And you’re not failing at aging. This book is for women who are tired of vague reassurance, conflicting advice, and being told everything is “normal” while their lives feel anything but.

You’re Not Crazy. It’s Menopause. explains what’s happening in your body and brain without medical lectures, hype, or pressure to follow a single solution. It’s practical, honest, and built for women who want clarity—not slogans.

What this book does (and why it’s different)

This isn’t a hormone manifesto. It’s not anti-hormone either. It doesn’t sell supplements, detoxes, or miracle fixes. Instead, it helps you understand what’s happening, what actually helps, and how to make decisions without panic—while you’re tired, foggy, and already doing your best.

Inside the book, you’ll learn:

Why menopause can feel so destabilizing all at once
(and why this isn’t a personal failure or anxiety problem)What’s actually changing in your body and brain
explained in plain language, without oversimplifying or dumbing it downWhy labs often look “normal” while you feel awful
and why comparison to other women is misleadingHow hormones really work in midlife
including fluctuation vs. decline, why perimenopause often feels worse than post-menopause, and what hormones don’t controlWhat’s behind brain fog, mood changes, hot flashes and night sweats, sleep disruption, and exhaustion
without catastrophizing or minimizingHormone therapy explained clearly and neutrally
benefits, risks, timing, reversibility, and how to decide without ideology or fear-mongeringReal non-hormonal options that actually help
what works, what usually doesn’t, and how women combine strategies without turning life into a full-time projectWhy old advice about sleep, stress, food, and exercise stops working
and what supports your body now insteadHow to get taken seriously at the doctor’s office
what to say, how to prepare, when to push back, and when to seek a second opinionHow to spot bad menopause advice online
and protect yourself from urgency, extremes, and misinformationWhat typically improves with time—and what may need ongoing support
without despair or false reassuranceWhat life after menopause often looks like
calmer, clearer, steadier—and more you than you expectAnd much much more!

About the Author

About the Author

Anna Whitfield is a writer, researcher, and midlife woman who did not plan to become an expert in menopause—but became one anyway.

In her mid-to-late forties, Anna found herself navigating a period that felt far more destabilizing than she had been led to expect. The symptoms were real. The explanations were scattered. The advice was either dismissive, contradictory, or delivered with an agenda.

So she did what she’s always done when something doesn’t make sense: she started reading. Not one or two books.

Hundreds of studies, guidelines, clinical papers, and menopause books—alongside conversations with clinicians, researchers, and other women quietly trying to figure out what was happening to their bodies while continuing to function at work, at home, and in life.

What she found was not a lack of information, but a lack of translation.

Menopause was either explained in dense medical language or reduced to slogans and solutions that didn’t match women’s lived reality. Intelligent women were being talked past—when what they needed was clarity, context, and proportion.

Anna wrote You’re Not Crazy. It’s Menopause. to fill that gap.
